Meet Bonnet 🐾💗
Little Bonnet has the most heartbreaking past, this gorgeous long-haired kitten was left outside to fend for herself, surrounded by larger male cats trying to breed with her. She was fed only meager portions as a scrap-yard cat, and sadly, we believe those experiences have left her frightened of open spaces and understandably fearful of other cats.
Today, Bonnet is safe, but she still finds comfort in the security of her kennel. The door is always open, yet she prefers to stay inside where she feels protected. If she is encouraged to come out, she quickly finds a place to hide and cowers until she feels safe again.
Bonnet is a wonderful eater, but her mealtime habits tell a story of their own. She won’t eat her wet food unless you stay beside her and gently pet her. We can’t help but wonder if she learned that food wasn’t safe when bigger cats were competing with her for every little portion. 💔
Despite everything she’s been through, Bonnet is so eager for love. Once she feels safe, she melts into affection and is slowly learning that play can be fun too. She’s beginning to enjoy gentle little tussles and string toys, and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding. 🥹
Bonnet is a little reserved and will need a quiet, calm home with a kind-hearted, gentle family who understands that trust takes time. We believe she would likely do best as the only cat in the home, where she can finally relax without feeling threatened by other cats.
She doesn’t need a busy household or lots of excitement. She needs someone willing to give her time, patience, love, affection and gentle play while she learns what it feels like to be safe. It can be a very rewarding experience to build her trust!
Bonnet is an absolute little doll. 💕 She has been through far too much for such a young kitten, and now it’s her turn to discover just how wonderful life can be. 🐾
