Earl comes to us through One Last Chance (a group that pulls animals from euthanasia lists at overcrowded pounds.) He was facing euthanasia, with June 14 marked as his final day. 😢 His cause of death would have been heartbreakingly simple: “euthanized due to lack of space at an overcrowded Quebec pound.” 💔
Thankfully, Earl’s story took a different turn. From the moment he arrived at his foster home, Earl settled in beautifully. He enjoyed some kibble and poached chicken, drank half a bowl of water, and happily leaned into a brushing session that removed two full brushloads of fur. He rubbed against his foster in what felt like a heartfelt “thank you” before curling up in a cozy bed on the office chair in his foster room.
It’s easy to assume that a cat placed on a euthanasia list must have some character flaw, but nothing could be further from the truth. Earl is an incredibly loving, handsome, intelligent cat with impeccable litter box habits, a polite and tidy houseguest who is quiet and gentle. He is entirely passive around the other cats (2) and small dog in his foster home. He watches their routines and occasionally joins in but is very respectful of their toys, food and space. He is passive and kind.
Earl likes to spend his days in a favourite high cat tree or chair and will follow you around to stay nearby. Whether you’re cooking, working or relaxing-Earl can usually be spotted in the vicinity keeping an eye on you. He gives kisses while being petted. Sometimes he will hold your arm while you’re petting him to give gentle love nibbles followed by kisses. Earl tolerates nail trims and brushing. He loves the red light lazer toy, occasionally takes on a cat spring or catnip toy in a game of toss. By far, his favourite activity is sitting on the couch with his foster family, in front of the big screen, watching FIFA, reality shows, the news, Netflix. Your vibe is his vibe- being together is his channel-of-choice!
Earl has a medium and slim athletic build, with striking grey tabby markings, white accents, and an adorable pink nose. He is friendly and affectionate with people without being overly demanding of attention. He is curious, always near by, coming to rub up against you but also respecting your space.
Earl is everything you could hope for in a companion cat—kind, gentle, handsome, and ready for a fresh start. Now he just needs a family of his own to give him the happy ending he deserves.
