Kate’s bio as written by her foster family:
Kate came to us from the Lancaster colony back in the Fall, alongside Anna. We knew very little about her past beyond the fact that it had been about survival and pain (quite literally, as she was found fighting a deadly uterine infection when brought into BPCR’s care, thankfully right on time). (BPCR has had her spayed, vaccinated and microchipped). She was also clearly wary of the human touch.
So we vowed to follow her own timeline into lapcathood, no rushing nor forcing anything, just paving her way with safety, stability, and space to figure out what lapcathood even means (just as we did with Anna). And we quickly realized how differently they’d cope and interact with the world: where Anna froze, Kate observed. She came in with this quiet, forward-driven determination to understand how-when-who-what’s the deal with us humans, and quickly turned our household into her own giant research playground. Anytime she’s not resting or eating, chances are you’ll find her diligently studying us, our happy indoor cats, and our giant dog, with this focused and determined little gaze of hers (which has caught us off guard more than once!)
She was quick to connect the dots between humans, food and nurture (getting her to eat from our hand didn’t take too long), and she’ll now follow us around the house adorably meowing for food if we’re running late on feeding schedule. Signs that she associates us with safety have been stacking up lately (she was caught sleeping in our bed last week
), even if she hasn’t fully figured us out yet and physical contact has remained minimal.
She’s slowly been integrating that life = eating good food, lying in the sun, playing, and being loved simply for existing. Slowly but surely, as she fiiiinally started playing earlier this month (solo night missions with noisy toys, of course
)
She’s still working out what humans are for beyond basic safety, and remains skittish at times, but she’s thiiis close to figuring it all out.
She is ready for her next chapter, taking her propensity to connect, her effortless cuteness, and her brand new taste for life into her forever home, and we’re genuinely excited for the adopters who get to do life with her
.
