Adoption Process

Choose from available cats

You can find our list of available cats on our website. Or you can follow our cats in care – if there is a cat you’re interested in, you can apply once they become adoptable. When they move to adoptable, they’ll also be posted on our Facebook page.
Join us for adoption events.  At these events, we make every effort to go through the entire adoption process so that you’re able to bring home your new lifelong companion that day.

Adoption Application

When you see or meet a cat (or cats) you’re interested in that is available for adoption, fill out an online adoption application . Provide as much detail as possible as we often receive multiple applications and this is your opportunity to tell us about you and why you’re the perfect match for the cat you’ve chosen. Note that we cannot accept applications on behalf of someone else.

Telephone Screening Interview

An adoption coordinator will contact you to review your application and conduct an interview to determine the best fit for you and the cat. It is important to us (any you!) to determine the best fit. Sometimes during the interview, it becomes apparent that the cat you’ve chosen was not appropriate for your lifestyle, and where possible, we try to work with applicants who would otherwise be great cat parents to identify a cat that would be a better fit.

Meet the cat

If the cat you’re interested in is located in a foster home, we are currently doing virtual visits. The foster will contact potential approved adopters to arrange a virtual meeting.
If the cat is at a partner store or adoption event, approved potential adopters will be able to meet the cat there.

Complete the Adoption

Adoption fees are payable by e-transfer and the adoption contract will be completed using our online form. Once received, adoption pickup arrangements will be made.  You will be provided with the cats’ medical (vaccination) record and microchip information. You will need to bring a cat carrier and blanket with you to bring the cat home.

Important Information

We strongly encourage all adopters to bring their cat to a veterinarian within 2 weeks of adoption for a health check. All adopters are responsible for veterinary care, medical bills, rechecks, and medication refills post-adoption.

We cannot guarantee the health of our cats. We do vet checks and will disclose observations at that time along with any information that is provided at the time of surrender, if relevant. Some illnesses can have an incubation period of upward of 10 days, which means that a cat can come home with you in good health but get sick a few days post-adoption. The stress of a new environment itself can depress a cat’s immune system.

Our cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted.

We cannot guarantee the temperament of our cats.

Most cats come to us without any background history. We do our best to find a good fit and ensure successful adoptions. However, this does not guarantee temperament in a new environment and circumstances. Please be patient as your new friend adjusts to life in your home.

Adoption fees are non-refundable. As we are reliant on donations and adoption fees to provide our cats with the care they deserve, this allows us to use our resources for the cats that remain in our care and those with urgent needs.
